HOW TO GET THERE

Typical pathway

A common path is to finish secondary school with strong English, math, business, computer, and record-keeping skills, then look for entry-level work or training in an insurance office. Some people start in claims support, customer service, or another office role and learn on the job. Employers may prefer candidates with post-secondary courses or related experience, but requirements can vary by employer, province, or the type of claims work. Early experience in careful reporting, speaking with customers, and basic problem solving can help prepare someone for insurance adjusting.
