HOW TO GET THERE
Typical pathway
A common route is to complete high school and take English, keyboarding, computer, and office or business courses. Some students then choose a college or career program in medical transcription or a related medical office program with transcription training. Early experience often comes from practice with typing, proofreading, record-keeping, and basic medical terminology in school or entry-level office work. Employers may prefer strong accuracy and familiarity with medical records, and requirements can vary by employer, province, specialization, or role.
