HOW TO GET THERE
Typical pathway
A typical path starts with secondary school courses that build computer basics, English, and keyboarding. Some students also take office, business, or information technology classes, if available. After graduation, many enter the workforce directly in entry-level office or administrative support roles, where they learn to receive documents, enter data, check records, and organize files. Others may take short college or workplace training in computer software or office procedures. Employers may also train new workers on the systems they use. Requirements can vary by employer, province, and the type of data entry work.
