Longshore worker

Longshore workers help move cargo between ships, trucks, rail cars, and storage areas in ports and terminals. This work is part of the trades, transport and equipment sector and is often physically demanding. It may suit students who like active, practical jobs, teamwork, and working around large equipment in a busy transportation environment.

Typical pathway

A longshore worker often enters the field through on-the-job training and employer-specific procedures. Experience with physical labour, teamwork, and transportation environments can be an asset.
