HOW TO GET THERE
Typical pathway
A typical path is to finish secondary school and build strong skills in photography, media production, and using cameras and editing equipment. Many people then gain hands-on experience through school media projects, volunteer work, internships, community TV, or entry-level work with production teams, news crews, or event crews. Some employers may prefer postsecondary study in film, broadcasting, media arts, or a related field, while others may focus more on practical experience and a strong portfolio. Early experience with teamwork, set etiquette, and basic equipment care is often helpful.
