HOW TO GET THERE
Typical pathway
A typical route is to finish secondary school and build strong English, math, computer, and customer service skills. Some students take hospitality, office administration, or business courses, but these are not always required. Many start in entry-level hotel or front desk support work, such as guest services, reservations, or cashiering, to learn booking systems, payment handling, record keeping, and guest service. Employers may prefer people with experience working with the public, and requirements can vary by hotel, province, or type of property. Good communication, patience, and staying organized are important throughout.
