HOW TO GET THERE
Typical pathway
A typical path is to finish secondary school and look for entry-level work at a marina, fuel dock, boat rental area, or similar waterfront business. Employers often value a helpful attitude, basic English and math, and comfort working with the public. Students may build experience through part-time, summer, or seasonal jobs that involve customer service, cash handling, record keeping, and hands-on maintenance. Some employers may provide on-the-job training for refuelling boats, handling rentals, and helping with marina equipment and docks. Requirements can vary by employer and by the type of marina or service role.
