HOW TO GET THERE
Typical pathway
A typical path is to finish secondary school and then gain hands-on experience in a construction trade or repair service such as roofing, drywall, painting, glazing, or equipment repair. Many people start as workers, helpers, or apprentices, where they learn tools, safety procedures, materials, and how job sites run. With several years of practical experience, some move into lead-hand or supervisory roles by showing strong organization, communication, and problem-solving skills. Requirements can vary by employer, province, and the specific trade or service area, and some people also build experience by managing small crews or their own business.
