HOW TO GET THERE
Typical pathway
A typical path for a Canadian secondary-school student is to finish Grade 12 and get a driver’s licence, then look for entry-level transit work with a bus, streetcar, or other transit operator. Employers may ask for a clean driving record, good customer service skills, and the ability to follow routes and safety rules. Some people start in related driving or public service jobs and gain experience before moving into transit. Training is often provided by the employer, and requirements can vary by company, province, or the type of vehicle or route.
