HOW TO GET THERE
Typical pathway
A typical path for a Canadian secondary-school student is to finish high school and build strong driving, customer service, and basic math skills. English, math, and mechanics courses can be helpful. Many people start with a full driver’s licence and a clean driving record, then learn the job through employer orientation, on-the-job training, or local taxi or limousine company requirements. Some employers or provinces may ask for extra checks, such as a driving abstract, background screening, or local permit. Early experience in customer service, delivery, or other driving work can also be useful.
