HOW TO GET THERE
Typical pathway
A typical path is to finish high school, then enter a hospitality or tourism program at a college or university, such as hotel, resort, or hospitality management. Some people start in entry-level hotel, resort, food service, or front desk jobs and move up by learning operations on the job. Employers often look for experience supervising staff, handling guests, keeping records, and working with budgets, prices, and suppliers. Requirements can vary by employer and province, and some roles may prefer post-secondary training or related experience.
